III. Project Purpose & Justification

[School Name] is applying for safety grant funding to implement VitalPath’s comprehensive emergency readiness programming for our staff and students during the 2025–2026 school year. This funding will allow us to proactively prepare for a range of emergency scenarios and ensure a safe, responsive learning environment.

Our school serves a high-need population, with more than 75% of students qualifying as low-income. Located in [Cleveland/Akron], we seek to provide our community with training that not only enhances safety, but also builds confidence, preparedness, and resilience.

IV. Program Description

The requested funds will fully cover hands-on, scenario-based training and assessments in the following areas:

  1. Active Threat / Active Shooter Response Training
    Practical drills and de-escalation strategies designed to prepare both staff and students for potential high-risk incidents.

  2. CPR & First Aid Certification
    Professional certification for school staff and selected student leaders to respond to medical emergencies.

  3. School Safety Assessments
    A full review of building safety infrastructure, emergency plans, and threat protocols.

  4. Emergency Preparedness & Response Training
    Interactive sessions on natural disasters, lockdowns, reunification, and effective crisis communication.

All training will be delivered by certified professionals in alignment with national best practices (OSHA, FEMA, Department of Education).

VIII. Evaluation & Reporting

We will work with VitalPath to administer pre/post surveys for participants, document completion of certifications, and assess improvements in safety protocols and emergency preparedness confidence. Reports will be submitted to funders as required.
